Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)
SOA is a comprehensive concept that is deeply integrated with the design of a complete IT application landscape. Required governance prevents the SOA initiative from periods of stalling and allows the company to administer and control the complete SOA lifecycle. In order to achieve a standardized and consistent SOA implementation, processes, structures and standards have to be defined. And that's when PFI Tech steps in to help.
Why SOA
Various artifacts, like services and process descriptions, business rules, and requirements are created during the implementation of a service-oriented architecture (SOA). They summarize the service orientation and are the basis for a goal-oriented implementation.
The usage of these artifacts in an SOA differs from their usage in former architecture models; therefore, the definition of responsibilities, organizational and communication structures, and the adherence to guidelines for the creation, modification, and publishing of services are required. All of these aspects are summarized as the SOA governance and should be supported by a central repository in order to provide optimal usage for the business and IT department.
Our Service Goals
- Introduction of enterprise-specific organizational structures for the successful implementation of SOA
- General framework and standards for portfolio and lifecycle management of services and processes
- Conceptual design and implementation of a central repository and of consistent, company wide description standards for the establishment of a standardized basis for SOA governance
- Embedding of the SOA implementation steps in the general IT management and planning processes via a holistic approach
- Definition of communication processes for the provision of up-to date information (existing and future services, processed data, linking to business processes, etc.)
Implementation Procedures
- Definition of the involved roles, their competencies and interactions (SOA governance team, architecture committee, functional and technical service owners, process owners, etc.)
- Definition of a mandatory strategy for the definition and introduction of services, as well as the deployment and consumption in enterprise applications
- Instructions for the implementation of new service functionality and the modification of existing functionality
- Classification of existing services in a functional, organizational and technical context in order to completely reveal their dependencies
- Development of the necessary standards for the description of the functional and non-functional properties of services
- Implementation of revision and documentation processes
Our Approach
Our SOA uses a business-centric IT architectural approach that supports integrating your business as linked, repeatable business tasks or services. With PFI Tech's SOA approach, you can find value at every stage of the SOA continuum, from departmental projects to enterprise-wide initiatives.
