Why SOA

Various artifacts, like services and process descriptions, business rules, and requirements are created during the implementation of a service-oriented architecture (SOA). They summarize the service orientation and are the basis for a goal-oriented implementation.

The usage of these artifacts in an SOA differs from their usage in former architecture models; therefore, the definition of responsibilities, organizational and communication structures, and the adherence to guidelines for the creation, modification, and publishing of services are required.
